Reydon Primary SMSC Statement

At Reydon Primary School, we are fully committed to providing high quality learning at the heart of the community. As part of this we have a duty to provide for the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education of pupils whilst promoting the British Values of Democracy, the Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Respect and Tolerance.

At Reydon Primary School, it is our intention to provide pupils with a range of exciting learning opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, with the support of our local community, which enable them to develop the attitudes and skills necessary for them to grow into responsible, happy and productive individuals and citizens.

Our broad and balanced curriculum provides for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning of our children and the extra-curricular activities we provide, extend and consolidate this learning.

  • Promote cultural diversity by inviting visitors from other cultures and religions, including a multi-faith day in November 2017
  • Promote links with St Margaret’s Church through assemblies, visits and special services
  • Religious Education is taught regularly using resources from the Emmanuel Project, created by the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich
  • Conduct a Pupil Survey to promote and monitor pupil voice

  • Continuing to promote the role of the learning ambassadors to monitor the development of learning behaviours across the school and to embed pupil voice
  • Create opportunities in assembly for members of our local community to talk to the children about issues which affect them
  • Promote links through the Road Safety Officers and the School Liaison Officer from Suffolk Constabulary
  • Promote British Values through the PSHE curriculum
  • Provide cultural experiences for children through workshops and lessons
